The PSHCE curriculum encapsulates the Academy’s vision that students learn ‘to know, to do, to be and to live together’. The curriculum aims to encourage pupils to live healthy, safe, and productive lives through developing emotional intelligence, resilience and empathy. They are supported in helping to develop positive thinking patterns, skills for success as well as high self-esteem and confidence. The curriculum seeks to develop pupils inter and intra personal skills, allowing them to develop team work skills as well as being able to think independently for themselves. They will also cover age-appropriate topical issues such as healthy relationships, online-safety and mental health. The PSHCE curriculum also focuses on ‘living together’ through the active citizenship element. They are provided with opportunities to reflect on their own values and attitudes as well as exploring the complex and conflicting range of values and attitudes of others. Pupils are encouraged to take an active part within the local, national and global community, fostering a sense of social responsibility and duty.
