With ‘general election fever’ so passée, the Archbishop Lanfranc Academy Year 10 pupils whipped up a storm this week, by kicking off with hustings from candidates, in a race to be voted head girl and head boy. Assemblies to the lower year groups included impassioned speeches, excellent reasoning and vote attracting promises from the 10 front runners.
The Academy Captain candidates for head girl were:
Nivetha Kasenthuran, Jada McAnuff, Dhrusti Patel, Jainika Patel, Nishtha Patel and Anicesabteca Skivakumar
And for head boy were:
Henry Conteh, Kieran Fogarty, Bradley Lemon and Chanruu Sivamanuharan
With all candidates’ canvassing complete, voting took place on Wednesday lunch break. The swell of early voters was quite overwhelming for the prefects who undertook the role of polling officers, which they did efficiently and with supreme calm.
An announcement of the winners is due on 1 June 2015. Yet, with such excellent speeches and presentations they all deserve to be recognised as winners and the Academy applauds all the work and courage it has taken each candidate to participate.
